Symbiotik is a UK based ambient, chill out duo made up of Rob (drummer, lyricist, and composer) and Rowe (keyboards, production, synthesis). They are in the studio writing their first album and have completed one track - 'A Million Angels'. Both are very competent and longstanding musicians, collectively spending over 20 yrs in the music business. Rob played in various rock groups and performed backing vocals; Rowe has been a recording artist, secessionist and composer (seriously) since 1998.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Tell the fans how you came up with the name Symbiotik. Tell us about the band members and how you all met.

Symbiotik: Well we are a duo and we are husband and wife, we met through our music and we share the same tastes and the same dreams

*Rob - Drums & Lyricist & Composer:

*Rowe – Keyboards, Music, Production, Synthesis:

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What is your favorite Duran Duran song and video?

Symbiotik: Our favourite song is HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF, Rob loves wolves and I love Martin Adams (the darts player who has this as his walk on theme) our favourite video is COME UNDONE

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Tell us about the genesis of your debut album you are working on now in the studio?

Symbiotik: It a deeply spiritual concept album that takes you on a journey from birth to death and cycles back through to reincarnation and birth, the concept is that you could loop the album forever because it would never end

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What contributions do you feel Duran Duran has made to the world of music and fashion and their philanthropist efforts in the past 30 yrs?

Symbiotik: They were style icons, they inspired many of our favourite artists and they changed the way people saw pop bands with their image- they were real individuals and inspired others to the same. Their charitable work has been extensive and they show how your fame can be used for great things – inspirational!

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What Duran Duran song would you like to remake if you could and why?

Symbiotik: We would love to remake hungry like the wolf – Rob would love to do the howling part and I would love to rework the bass-line because it’s PHAT

LadyaslanDDTTRH: How would you describe the music/sound of Symbiotik to new fans who have never heard your music before?

Symbiotik: We are new age chill, with lashings of world fusion, a sprinkling of rock and a dose of enigma!

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Tell us about your backgrounds….you both are very competent and longstanding musicians, collectively spending over 20 yrs in the music business; give us a lil sample of all you have done.

Symbiotik: Rob played as a pro drummer throughout the 70s and 80s and now writes tons of lyrics! Rowe has worked producing for more than 20 acts including drum and bass, dance, trance, pop and rock styles, has released 3 solo albums and produced both of Rob’s solo albums

LadyaslanDDTTRH: If you could have a sit down with any member of Duran Duran today who would it be and what would be topic of discussion?

Symbiotik: Simon le bon and we would talk about how to make hair stand on end because no amount of gel seems to work

LadyaslanDDTTRH: If Symbiotik could have their pick of one solo artist and one song writer to collaborate with who would you all pick?

Symbiotik: We would have Michael Cretu from Enigma because he is the total inspiration for this and we would also choose Michael Jackson (RIP) because he has and always will be the KING of all grooves!
LadyaslanDDTTRH: What was the inspiration behind your new track A Million Angels?*so earthy and surreal LOVE it~

Symbiotik: It reassures you that even when you die it will be a beautiful experience and you will be taken home by angels – we are very spiritual it’s kind of about the afterlife and going to heaven

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Anything you would like to share with the fans? Tour Dates/American Tour Dates? Will your music be on iTunes?

Symbiotik: Yes, we are still perfecting our album but we will be releasing it soon we hope – in time for Xmas and when it comes you will be able to get it on cd and download pretty much everywhere

Interview with Drype

Drype is a Portuguese alternative rock band formed in Ermesinde, Oporto, in 2007 by Marcos Levy (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Pedro Eloi (drums) and Aires Meneses (bass guitar, backing vocals).

The three piece band was formed after the disbandment of N’cript, an Oporto grunge project; when Marcos and Pedro decided to go a different way and went on to form a new band with the provisory name ‘Infectious Greed’ that would be later named ‘Drype’, a fusion of many music genres, including alternative rock, heavy metal, grunge and progressive rock. Marcos Levy, former bassist on N’cript, changed from bass guitar to vocals, guitar, piano and with the arrival of a new member; Aires Meneses on bass, original songs are made and performed live in the Oporto area.

Since then the band has developed a solid path performing in distinguished Portuguese venues such as ‘Fabrica do Som’ (Oporto), ‘Festival Gaia em Peso’ (Gaia), ‘Festival Ilha do Ermal’, ‘Breyner 85 bar’ (Oporto), ‘Santiago Alquimista’ (Lisbon), ‘Plano B’ (Oporto), ‘Pin Up bar’ (OPorto) and many others, winning also a national contest to play in ‘Festival Secundário’ (Gouveia) for an attendance of 1500 people.

In 2010 the band changes the name to ‘Drype’ and records the first EP produced by Marcos Levy containing 4 songs of their set list, culminating into its original sound.

Marcos, Pedro and Aires, currently 19, 20 and 23 years old, are now looking forward to expand their fan base and to show their music to the world.

Ladyaslan presents Drype:

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Do you think Duran Duran deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Drype: We think so; it’s a band that has earned his way to the Hall of Fame like many others. We have a song called ‘Hall of shame’, but I don’t think Duran Duran is included on that category.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Tell the fans how you came up with the name Drype. Tell us about the members of Drype and how you all met.

Drype: It’s hard to find a name for any band, and it wasn’t different for us. We had a temporary name, ‘Infectious Greed’, but the name was too negative and we thought we could come up with something better, the name Drype stood out in the midlle of the crowd of names we had on our white board, and… voilla!

I (Marcos Levy) met Pedro and Ricardo on our first grunge band, they needed a bass player and I had a bass guitar in my house, so I went for it. The band ended and we moved on to a new project named Infectious Greed, when I moved on to be the vocalist, guitarist and pianist of the band. So we had a vacant spot and while looking for someone to fill it, Aires Meneses answered us and joined the band.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What is your favorite Duran Duran song and video?

Drype: It’s ‘Ordinary World’

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What was it like to play the Portuguese venues such as ‘Fabrica do Som’ (Oporto), ‘Festival Gaia em Peso’ (Gaia), ‘Festival Ilha do Ermal’, ‘Breyner 85 bar’ (Oporto), ‘Santiago Alquimista’ (Lisbon), ‘Plano B’ (Oporto), ‘Pin Up bar’ (OPorto)?

Drype: It was awesome; we met all kinds of people, the ones who loved the music, the ones that stood quietly looking at us, the ones that started the mosh pits… We love playing live and we hope we can raise the bar and play in some larger stages in the near future.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What contributions do you feel Duran Duran has made to the world of music and fashion in the past 30 yrs?

Drype: Keeping the 80’s pop alive! In fashion… well I don’t really know about that.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What Duran Duran song would you like to remake if you could and why?

Drype: Well, ‘Ordinary World’ could be the one, it’s a catchy song!

LadyaslanDDTTRH: How would you describe the music and sound of Drype to new fans who have never heard your music before?

Drype: Drype is Rock, plain and simple!

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Tell us about the single Discardable People; what was the genesis of this song?

Drype: Discardable People is a very personal song that tells you a story of someone who has discovered that someone that he/she likes is not what he was supposed to be, it’s a song about disappointment and about reacting to that.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: If you could have a sit down with any member of Duran Duran today who would it be and what would be topic of discussion?

Drype: The topic would be, definitely, talking about how Duran Duran could help Drype getting more gigs!

LadyaslanDDTTRH: If Drype could have their pick of one solo artist and one song writer to collaborate with who would you pick?

Drype: Wow that’s hard, I can talk only for myself… maybe Trent Reznor, I guess we could put him in the ‘solo artist’ category, and perhaps Matthew Bellamy.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Anything you want to share with the fans; new and old?

Drype: Join the mailing list on our MySpace page and I hope we can see you all on our gigs in the near future!

Rock on! Cheers!

Interview with Durandy

He hails from Seattle, Washington...a man on a mission...to add to his archive every piece of Duran Duran history he can find. He is the man...'Durandy' Andy Golub. If you've seen the movie 'Something You Should Know', you will see him in it. If you go to his website, you will be awed by his collection of Duran Duran throughout the years...ranging from posters to books to magazines to promos and rare photography.

Andy says this about himself on his site..."For a long time I have believed that it’s best if I simply blend into the background as the archivist, working on finding new artifacts and keeping a low profile. However, fate has had other plans in mind. I’ve been fortunate to enjoy some terrific recognition for what I’m trying to accomplish, and I’m very grateful to find that others are so interested in learning more about how this collection came to be."

When I first approached Andy, it was like it was meant to be. He was extremely excited about our effort and gracious in his support of it. If you look through the petition signatures...you will see his name there. Since then, I have had the joy of finding messages in my voice mail from Andy encouraging me in the DDTTRH cause and I have enjoyed a growing friendship with him.

Andy has made news and caught the attention of Duran Duran in his efforts. He is known and loved by many in the Duranie community (including by myself). I am pleased to present to you DDTTRH's interview with Durandy.

Kirk, DDTTRH: When did Durandy officially start? How did 'Durandy Productions' come
about?

Andy: For over twenty years I have cultivated a relationship with the DJs at a local radio station. It began with me calling in and simply trying to raise the level of Duran awareness at the station. I'm not exactly sure whether it was the DJs who christened me Durandy or if it was a self-fashioned moniker, but the station soon realized I wasn't going away and my passion for the band translated into delicious sound bites on the air! I like to think it was fate that gave me a name perfectly suited for DD devotion. I've been asked about legally changing my name to Durandy. It would be great to take my passion that far but I believe I've put my poor family through enough as it is.

Durandy Productions reflects how my archival endeavors have gravitated toward a mature, professional direction over the years. What began as a meager but determined collection in my bedroom has now blossomed into a comprehensive archive of the band's career. My collection has found purpose well beyond my personal satisfaction; from usage in television broadcasts and online web features to exhibits in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I've enjoyed many opportunities to educate, illuminate, and commemorate the band's career. Mementos from Duran's past have intrinsic value that only continues to grow as new generations discover the band and lifelong fans strive to embrace their icons with fresh perspective.

I adopted the name 'Durandy Productions' to solidify my archival efforts under a professional entity. Christine is a critical part of DP as her photography allows the archive to be enjoyed and fully utilized. A remarkable but lesser known aspect of Christine's contribution is her collection of Duran's audio/video releases. With thousands of vinyl pressings, CDs, cassettes, and videos, her archive stands alongside my own as a testament to Duran Duran's prolific catalogue.

Kirk, DDTTRH: I was really excited when I saw you recently on the 'Something You Should
Know' fan documentary by M. Douglas Silverstein. Tell us how that came
about!

LOL! Being a part of M's film has to be one of my life's greatest thrills. It started in Costa Mesa, 2003. I had just seen the reunited band perform for the first time and I was delirious with euphoria, an absolute high that I know we can all relate to! There was a small camera crew outside the venue and spontaneous interviews were taking place. Fans were pouring their excitement out to the cameras and a friend of mine quickly got the crew's attention, insisting they talk to me. Once I was asked if I enjoyed the show, the floodgates opened and I held court right there on the sidewalk, gesturing like a madman, proclaiming my eternal love and admiration for Duran Duran. I was only reminded of what I had actually said when I saw the final cut of the film. The best thing about that moment was knowing there were so many fans who knew exactly what I was feeling. That's a powerful, emotional connection, and it helped ease the slight discomfort at seeing my dignity so easily surrendered in front of the cameras! But passion for Duran has always been worn on my sleeve and it apparently resonated with M Douglas. The next thing I know, I'm being contacted for a full interview and tour of the archive with a camera crew behind me.

One of the most compelling motivations behind my archive is oriented around my connection to the global fan community. In light of that, becoming involved with M's film felt particularly meaningful as the documentary captures the common experience that draws us all together. I have never felt more proud to belong to such an amazing group of people.

Kirk, DDTTRH: Ever since I approached you Andy, you have been extremely supportive of me and this effort. At times, I don't feel like I deserve it. After all,
while it is true that I've been a fan of Duran Duran for many years and
their music has inspired me at the best and worst times of my life, I have
only recently appeared on the 'Duranie' scene. What is so special to you
about an effort to get Duran Duran into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame--please talk about that>

Andy: First of all, Kirk, I am dismayed to learn that you somehow judge yourself as a less worthy fan based upon your visibility within the fan community. It shouldn't matter when you started being a fan, how passionate you are in devotion, or where you choose to display your colors. We're all fans, all deserving of praise and props for impeccable taste in musical icons!

My association with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame remains a cherished milestone in my archival 'career'. For five years, I loaned an assortment of memorabilia to the Hall for an exhibit. The loaned artifacts included 20 posters, the Milton Bradley board game, a selection of magazines, fan club materials and other ephemera. While a small percentage of the items actually made it into the exhibit, they ended up on display alongside vintage outfits contributed by John and Nick. It was a proud moment.

Working with the Hall introduced me to the people behind this magnificent historical showcase and I understood how committed they are to recognizing the legends we love. I think it's great to see you going above and beyond with your efforts, raising awareness of not only Duran's credentials, but also the extent of band support out there. It's easy to miss the gravity of how many people an artist has touched when the focus is on sales and statistics. Duran are one of the most enduring, prolific bands ever to emerge from the 80's, transcending decades of diverse musical landscapes and making an indelible mark in pop history. Duran deserves nothing less than having someone go out of their way to rally for the band's induction into such a celebrated, prestigious institution as the Rock Hall.

Kirk, you are not only a genuine, worthy fan -- you inspire others to be the best they can be.

Kirk, DDTTRH: What would you tell critics of the band who were so hard on them when they first started?

Andy: I would tell them, thank you. Thank you for not making it so easy for the band to achieve critical success that they might have lost sight of how good it feels to overcome adversity, shatter expectations, and prove what they already knew: Duran Duran has what it takes to succeed regardless of critical opinion. If the critics weren't so hard on DD in the beginning, would the band have strived as hard as they did? It is rare to have success come without obstacles, and the obstacles allow us to feel triumphant for conquering them.

Kirk, DDTTRH: Tell us about your newest effort with the independent film?

Andy: American Collectors is an independent film by Bob Ridgley and Terri Krantz, taking a fascinating look at the collecting phenomenon. A diverse, colorful assortment of people are profiled in this documentary, each showcasing a unique collection and their own perspective on what motivates them to collect. I was fortunate to be among the cast of characters in the film, a very unexpected but enjoyable twist of fate! After its 2009 release, Bob and Terri's cinematic effort made the rounds at film festivals, garnering some great critical acclaim. Last December, American Collectors premiered on public television here in Washington, and anyone interested can see the film streamed through the channel's website:

http://video.kcts9.org/video/1708621019/

Kirk, DDTTRH: I've read about you and seen your site. I'm so impressed by what you've
collected on Duran Duran and how dedicated you are. It really is an
example to me. You've probably been asked this before, but what inspires
you about Duran Duran and how have they touched your life?

Andy: Thank you very much, Kirk. I have been asked this before and every time feels like a chance to answer differently, just because there are so many aspects about Duran that resonate with me. I'm sure every fan can relate to that! Right now, I'm thinking of the way the band lives their professional life, carrying lessons I learn from with each passing day. Duran's trajectory has been one of bold steps, never quite knowing what lies ahead, where they will end up, or how they will be perceived. With all editorial aside regarding management or record label influence, the band have consistently taken charge of their own destiny. A genuine admiration has been nurtured from seeing a group of talented artists pursue their vision and make the music they want, unwilling to compromise or settle for less. Striving to uphold such a model of integrity is the best gift I could ever give myself.
My family, friends, and even I could never have imagined I would end up being a Duran Duran archivist. It's certainly not a conventional pastime. However, it's one that has propelled me forward with confidence and conviction, revealing a sense of purpose in the most unexpected place. When it's easy to be drowned out by outside influences and opinions, it's good to remember that the only voice worth listening to is your own.

Kirk, DDTTRH: You have an impressive collection. I especially enjoyed seeing the Rum Runner poster, the rare photography, and the postcards.
Tell me, if you were to name one 'prize' piece, which is it and why?

Andy: This is always a difficult question, albeit a little better than 'if there was an emergency and you had to grab one piece from your archive...'! When I think of prizes in my collection, my thoughts quickly turn to the posters I have acquired from the band's formative years. Posters from an early gig at the Rum Runner, or from when Duran supported Hazel O'Connor -- those are priceless mementos from a time that grows more distant with each passing year. When I gaze upon a promotional poster from the Rum Runner, I am filled with a palpable sense of reverence. I realize that, when this poster was printed, few people knew Duran Duran's name, what they were capable of, and who they would become. More to the point, even Duran were unaware of the road that lay ahead for them. My archive may be filled with treasures from every chapter of the band's storied career, but it's the very first chapter that sets up the rest of the story.

Kirk, DDTTRH: What do you know about Duran Duran's desires to even be in the Rock Hall? I'm sure being snubbed has not sat well with the band.

Andy: It's an interesting attitude that Duran have towards the Rock Hall. In my perspective, they just aren't that into garnering all the accolades and recognition, they're happy to leave all that to the fans and our enthusiastic support. They want to make great music and connect with their fans. And make money, I suppose! But that's it for them.

Kirk, DDTTRH: What advice can you give DDTTRH as we wend our way forward in this amazing effort?

Andy: The only advice I have is to stay true to your vision, and remember why you're doing what you do. What may seem like simple, obvious instructions are designed to ensure that you remain confident in and proud of everything you accomplish. DDTTRH is an ambitious, commendable, and impressive display of entrepreneurial spirit. I see an example of what occurs when heartfelt passion is combined with a focus and steel-willed commitment. Whether helping to orchestrate this effort or just adding their support to it, everyone involved should stand tall and know they're a part of something special.

With unlimited vision and unending devotion, the possibilities are endless. Kudos for going above and beyond, Kirk. It's just what Duran Duran would do.

Interview with Strap on Halo

Originally formed in 1994, Strap On Halo's rebirth comes from the ashes of change. Founding member Sean Rial resurrected the band after meeting lead singer Layla Reyna. Not long after, bassist Marc Jones joined the band and in the summer of 2009 they started to work on material for their first release.

Eager to get their music out, Strap On Halo wrote and recorded Cherry Flavored Quick Fix EP within a few months. The EP has three original songs and one remix by Martin Atkins. It was recorded...

Strap On Halo is a gothic, darkwave band. Now booking tour dates for summer 2011. For booking email straponhalo@live.com Strap On Halo are: Layla Reyna - Vocals, lyrics, keyboards, programming, drums and design and Sean Rial - Guitar, keyboards, drums and MarC Jones – Bass

Ladyaslan presents Strap On Halo~enjoy~

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Do you think Duran Duran deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Strap on Halo: Absolutely, we thing that anyone who can influence others and sustain a career in music definitely deserves that honor.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: On your profile on MySpace you show the flyer for the Animal Tour with Android Lust, The Acid, Astronaut, and Cowboy Ninja…tell the fans what to expect and how did you all (bands) hook up together?

Strap on Halo: (Layla) Yes, fans can always expect to find the latest show flyer on our myspace home page. The Android Lust show is coming up pretty quick. We were asked by a local promoter if we wanted to open for Android Lust and accepted. It will happen Monday, September 13th at the Waiting Room in Omaha, Nebraska. Fans can expect a dose of gothic and industrial music. Strap On Halo will hit the stage first and be followed by Android Lust. DJ mACID will spin gothic and industrial before, between and after both bands. We are considering adding a new song to our live set list. So fans might get a surprise that night and I anticipate that Android Lust will give us a great show.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What is your favorite Duran Duran song and video?

Strap on halo: We would all have to agree that, The Chauffer is our favorite because it's dark with eerie.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: How long have you been making music? How has Strap on Halo evolved over the years?

Strap on Halo: (Layla) Well Strap On Halo was originally formed in 1994 with a different lineup that included founding member Sean Rial. He reformed that band in 2009 and since then the three of us have definitely progressed musically as a band and individually. We have all been making music off and on since we were kids. We definitely have seen each other grow over the past couple years and are always surprised. Evolution of music is inevitable but that is what makes it fun and exciting.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What contributions do you feel Duran Duran has made to the world of music and fashion in the past 30 yrs?

Strap on Halo: (Sean) Nick Rhodes introduced the Roland keyboard and was shown to be one of the most reliable keyboards for touring musicians during the early eighties.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What Duran Duran song would you like to remake if you could and why?

Strap on Halo: Again that would have to be The Chauffer. It was one of their darker songs and remains our favorite.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Tell us about your debut EP album Cherry Flavored Quick Fix? How did you come to choose that name for your album and why? How did you come with the name Strap on Halo?

Strap on Halo: Cherry Flavored Quick Fix was recorded and produced in Chicago by Martin Atkins. The EP has four songs and one is a remix by Martin Atkins of “I Feel Like Yesterday”. We wrote the songs on the EP in a matter of months and like the title were meant to be a quick fix for anyone interested to get a sense of what we are about. The name “Cherry Flavored Quick Fix” comes from “Chemical Nation” lyrics but it has a double purpose as the EP title. Sean came up with the name Strap On Halo back when he was a teenager. The name has taken on different lives in each of our minds but simply it reflects hypocritical ideals and a facade that we see society beating its drum to.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Tell us about the music/melody involved in the song I Feel Like Yesterday? (It has some heavy dark wave riffs) *GREAT song by the way~Ladyaslan’s FAVE!

Strap on Halo: (Layla) The song is about lost time, things you did and things you could have done or wished you did. Have you ever felt like yesterday or the past after you talk to an old friend or smell something that triggers a memory and an emotion? It had been happening to me a lot and still does. When we write songs they are set in motion by a note I sing, a random bass thump or howl of the guitar and then the mood of the song dictates my lyrics.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: If you could have a sit down with any member of Duran Duran who would it be and what would be topic of discussion?

Strap on Halo: Okay it would be a draw between Nick Rhodes and Andy Taylor. Topic of discussion would most definitely be guitars of course.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: If you could sing a duet with one band and one solo artist; who would you pick?

Strap on Halo: (Layla) I would absolutely love to sing a duet with Blixa Bargeld. I love his music and LOVE his voice. It would also be great to work with Carl McCoy of Fields of the Nephilim. They are a huge emotional influence on our music.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Anything you would like to share with your fans?

Strap on Halo: I would hope that this is something every musician says but we love our fans. They are the most creative, passionate and great people we could ever meet. Touring has been a fantastic experience because of all the great people we have met. We love music and love to create it. You guys make it possible for us to continue. Thanks for all of your tremendous support. Stay tuned for a full length release coming soon and updates on new tour dates.

Special Signatures from our Petition, 2010

Kandice Purpura (DDTTRH Petition Duchess and member of the DDTTRH council) compiled some special signatures from our petition to share as part of the annual report. Here is what she pulled out...Enjoy!!!!

1. #918 Melissa Piscione, IL
Duran Duran is a very talented band with an original sound. When you hear one of their songs, it's unique and unforgettable. Please give them this honor and induct them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Thank you.

2. #911 Name not displayed, Australia
I have enjoyed music from many artists over the past 30 yrs but nothing makes me smile more than hearing a Duran song. Their talent is unquestionable, their influence monumental and they more than deserve this recognition! They will never stop amazing me... how fantastic is their latest album????

3. #891 Roman Castillo, FL
Duran Duran is what Music should be.. Music that makes you Dance, Cry , Love , and have Fun.. From Simon LeBon's angelic ethereal voice and his yodeling cries, to Roger's moving Dance beats to John's singing melodic bass, and Nick's ambeient yet beautifully haunting Synth. They are the sound of Music. I love them. They are the Sound Track of my life and many loves... Duran Duran Forever!!!

4. #862 Sue C, CT
Duran Duran are songwriters, innovators, inspiration, and timeless. There is no question that Duran Duran deserve the Hall of Fame. 30 years baby!

5. #755 Steven Batty, United Kingdom
Been a Duran Duran fan since 1981 and strongly support their addition to the Hall of Fame. They've always stuck by their musical integrity and constantly challenged themselves with each album. Not only that they paved the way for video being a valid publicity tool which everyone even now is copying.

6. # 692 Joel Flowerday, Canada
they absolutely deserve this. There's so many references to them on tv,they influenced so many other musicians, have legions of faithful fans all over who still follow them religiously, from generations to generations, still continue to pack concert halls to arenas. They defined the 80s!I cannot say enough on DD!fan since 83,fan forever, fan for life!they HAVE to be there!

7. #599 Ronald Campbell, KY
The longevity of Duran Duran speaks for itself when most bands from the 80's are long gone, i.e. one hit wonders. Not to mention the over 100 million albums sold. I have seen them live 3 times, once in the 1980's, 1990's and 2005 with the reunion tour. All 3 shows were great. These guys are more than pretty faces, former Tiger Beat cover stories and a former hair band...they are musicians. It is time to give them the respect they deserve for their decades of hard work, outstanding careers and contributions to the world of music.

8. #575 Claudia Leo, MI
To say that Duran Duran: *Had a HUGE influence on the music and culture of the 1980s and beyond.*Were wildly successful in their career.*Were pioneers in much of what they did (choice of producers, type of venues played, having a Broadway residency, etc.), including their MTV-era of music videos...... IS A GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT. Duran Duran to the Rock Hall of Fame NOW!

9. #564 Denise Morris, CA
Duran Duran deserves to be in the Rock Hall of Fame! I am a long time fan of the band and have listened to their music for over 28 years! I go to concerts when they tour and historically they sell out venues. The music that they made in the 80's has stood the test of time, and they still continue to put out great music today. I am always in anticipation of what they will do next, and just waiting to see them tour again, they always put on a great show, and sound even better than ever! Not to mention, they revolutionized music videos in the early days of MTV! No one made videos of the same caliber as Duran Duran's. Many bands today will tell you they were influenced by this group-- so they totally deserve the recognition.

10. #556 Melinda Bogart, FL
I was 8 or 9 nine years when I was first exposed to Duran Duran (I am now 36). Their music was the basis for my initial personal taste. Up until then I just listened to what my parents or older siblings listened to, but Duran Duran was the first group that I personally wanted to own their albums. They had a sound that was different, it blended alternative music with actual musicality and sheer talent that is not always present in modern music. They are one of the few alternative bands who have proven to last throughout the decades, showing the ability to update themselves, while still holding true to their "Duran Duran-ness." I love their new music, and I fondly listen to all their previous music with a sense of true nostalgia. Each song allows me to reminisce on a certain event in my life. If this is not the definition of a Hall of Fame band, then I suggest you refelct upon the criteria currently used.Thank you,Melinda BogartLifetime Duran Duran fan.

11. #526 Tasha Torres, Fl
Duran Duran was the very first concert i went to. I was 15,I am now 41 and still listen to them all the time. We drove from Orlando, Florida to Lakeland ,Florida. What fun. We where 3rd row center stage .had so much fun and on the way home in the back of a pick up truck it didn’t even matter that it started raining, They have been around for a very long time unlike many bands that couldn’t stand the test of time.

12. #502 Debbi Umel
Personally, this band has been such a huge influence on my life I can not even begin to tell you. I started playing the drums and got my first drum set at the age of 13, because of Roger Taylor. Simon, John, Roger, Nick, and Andy are all top notch musicians and artists, and their music is timeless.. and it IS ROCK AND ROLL!! <3 ♥

13. #497 Steph Keller, UT
Duran Duran deserves the recognition for their impact on the world of music and pop culture. They ushered in a new genre of music. They pioneered the music video to an art form. Rolling Stone Magazine dubbed the band as "The Fab Five." They conquered America and the world with a hysteria reminicent of Elvis Presley and The Beatles. And just as Elvis Presley and The Beatles influenced their generation, Duran Duran has influenced mine, and millions of my generation. Duran Duran has always had their own style. Their own sound. Two decades after the rise of their fame, they are still at the top of their form. Their music has inspired such artists as Maroon Five, Gwen Stefani, The Killers, and Justin Timberlake, as well as the artists mentioned by the founders of this petition. Their music is unmistakable. Their talent is undeniable. Please give them the credit that they deserve for the mark they have made in Rock and Roll's history. Thank you.

14. #481 Name not displayed, UK
As Nile Rodgers once said: “Duran Duran have gotten the short end of the stick,” the music legend told me a couple of years back. “When we’re all dead and gone, people are gonna look back and realize how amazing they were. Even the records I didn’t do!”

15. #473 Kathy Thompson, SC
This simply makes common sense. Please take this matter under serious consideration.

16. #437 Name not displayed, NY
It’s truly a pity that we still have music critics who deny Duran Duran's musical influence. They have contributed and played with a diverse selection of artists among them Luciano Pavarotti, Milton Nascimento, Sting, Grace Jones, and The Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan. Unfortunately because of the band's large female fan base they have been consistently (and wrongly) discredited, called a manufactured boy band. I think herein lies the problem--a certain lack of respect for the devoted longtime fans--women AND men from all over the world. They have always worked hard as musicians, developing and improving their craft (as well as pleasing the female base) and evolving their sound. Along the way they have proved to be (and still continue to be) a major influence on many existing bands, art, and fashion. I don't think you can exist continuously for 30+ years in the business by being just eye candy. I suggest you place Duran Duran, one of the most important bands in rock & roll history, in the Rock and Roll Hall and Fame.

17. #369 Lizzy Hardel, IL
I’ve been a Duranie for nearly 30 years, they have continually surprised me, cheered me, excited me and thoroughly entertained me for all those years and now they are doing the same for my 11 year old son. We would both love to see them inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

18. #364 Michelle Sanders, IA
I have been a diehard Duran fan since '81. Their music has influenced so many other bands. Duran's music is so timeless, I can listen to them over and over; their talent as musicians/songwriters and their songs have captured past, present and future generations. They are truly iconic and have a way of presenting their songs as emotional, danceable and such as an art form. Their videos are also stylish(as well as Duran's clothes!)and have an affect on not only other musicians, but they are a model for alot of how the industry has viewed music as a whole. When MTV first came out, I still cannot imagine what it had been like not to have Duran. I truly believe that their never ending success has paved a way for such fans/bands to see that Duran really captures a presence for greatness in their live music. I have been so impressed that Duran are such great musicians, that their songs stand the test of time.

19. #340 Nique Quesada, CA
Don’t forget Sugar Ray, AFI, Daughtry and so many others who were influenced by them. And their success on the US charts wasn't all in the 80s and early 90s. In 2005, remixes of their singles What Happens Tomorrow and (Reach up for the) Sunrise both placed in the top 10 Dance Chart for the entire year! That means they had 2 of the top 10 songs, beating out ALL but 8 other acts with songs in the clubs that year. Their songs have also been sampled by some of the world's best DJs Plus they have been on the edge of so many technological advances. For example, their song Electric Barbarella was the first song to EVER be available for purchase as a download on the internet. They have a deeply loyal fanbase who have followed them for about 30 years, through lineup and record label changes. Those fans who can afford it, and some who really can't, often travel to follow them on tour. And when we go to their shows, we ALWAYS see @ least a few people whom we can call friends. Duran Duran is influential in their fans' lives and have been known to literally bring fans out of comas. I know of @ least 2 separate instances of this. One fairly odd, but interesting study was done and it was proven that when their music was played for a bunch of dairy cows, their milk production increased. I am not sure what that says, but I do know those cows have great taste in music! Lol! Simply put, Duran Duran deserves to be in the Rock Hall of Fame.

20. #338 Robert Chiaravallotti, WA
Duran Duran have been a driving force in the music industry since 1978. With 12 studio albums, several chart topping hits, revolutionary videos, numberous awards, they represented music, video and fasion for an entire decade. During the 1990's they had the biggest hit of their carreer to date with "Ordinary World". Today countless artist and musicians that inspire a new generation site Durasn Duran as major influences on their musical journey. Duran Duran deserve to be inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of fame NOW!!!

21. #333 Frank Vermeer, Netherlands
Duran Duran has to one of the most underrated bands of the last 30 years.Selling more than 80 million records, pioneering music video, setting new standards for live show technics (the use of light shows and augmented reality on stage), releasing the first ever downloadable single (Electric Barbarella), appearing on Live Aid and Live8 and always staying on edge of music. And o yeah...creating some of the most iconic music of a decade with timeless songs! So there's no excuse anymore...Duran Duran deserves it's place in the Rock Hall Of Fame....period!

22. #318 David Bara, WA
The first day that MTV broadcast in my area, I watched for hours. Then, suddenly, a video appeared out of the aether that was different than anything seen heretofore by mankind. That Video was "Planet Earth". I was mezmerized. This was either the Coolest Band In The World, or the biggest set of freaks I had ever seen. I waited six hours for MTV to repeat the video, and on second viewing there was no doubt, this was The Coolest Band In The World[tm]. Thus began a 30-year odyssey of fashion, hairstyles, great music, concerts, and many trips around the globe to experience this band. Do they deserve it? They should have been in the first year they were eligible. Let's get on with it!

23. #253 Tajzha Perry, MA
I love Duran Duran! i have been wondering why they aren't in the the Rock & Roll Hall of fame yet! they have made significant achievements in music and whenever there's a catastrophe they almost always have or are apart of a benefit concert, they support many charities! and for me they always seem to be on the cutting edge of music, they are the trailblazers and set trends in both music and fashion! i just love Duran Duran- personally i always know it's gonna be a fantastic day whenever i hear one of their songs!! Duran Duran's music is beautiful, touching, inspiring, insightful, otherworldly and perceptive! they just rock and no one can touch their music videos- they are breath-taking!!! please induct Duran Duran into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame- music and videos wouldn't be the same without them! They made music what it is today! would P.Diddy have had the hook to his tribute song to Notorious B.I.G. without Duran Duran's Notorious- i think not! and how many bands have had the honor to do a James bond theme song- remember A View To A Kill!! i could go on and on i love Duran Duran! i just hope that DD gets into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame they deserve that honor!!! Good Luck guys xoxo

24. #173 Perla Garcia, Mexico
They have a lot of great music, I'm 15 years old and I love the band, I also know a lot of young people that like DD, so that means that they are not just another band from de 80´s, DD still making great music

25. #138 Name not displayed, Denmark
Duran Duran should have been admitted to the Rock Hall of Fame years ago. Not only are they most likely the most underrated band of centuary but they are also the most innovativ and ground breaking band of not only their own generation but also past and most likely future generations. Their influence on present bands and artists are unprecedented and yet they still produce music and write lyrics in a way that has never been done before. They have merged fashion as a way of expression from the first years and continue to do so. Duran Duran is not only a music band. They are a truely multy artistic band wich likes has never been encountered in the history of music. By refusing to let Duran Duran have their rightfull place in the Rock Hall of Fame the institution is making a mockery of their goal to honour truely ground breaking and talented artists. John, Nick, Andy, Roger and Simon is and always will be true artists that has managed to reach millions across belife and colour for decades!

26. #136 Chell Henson, MO
IT IS A CRIMINAL SHAME THESE OVER ACHIEVERS IN MUSIC HAVE BEEN OVERLOOKED IN BEING INDUCTED INTO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL-OF-FAME FOR TOO LONG NOW. THEY ARE TRUE ICONS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT, HAVE MILLIONS OF FAITHFUL FANS, AND THEIR MUSIC HAS INSPIRED PEOPLE OVER 3 DECADES NOW. SOME OF THE BANDS THAT HAVE ALREADY MADE IT INTO THE HALL OF FAME CANNOT HOLD A CANDLE TO DURAN DURAN. NOR HAVE MANY OF THEM BEEN AS ARTISTICALLY UNIQUE AND HARD WORKING IN THE INDUSTRY AS THESE GUYS HAVE BEEN. MOST BANDS OF MANY ERAS SOUNDED SO SIMILAR TO ONE ANOTHER OVER EACH DECADE, BUT WHEN DURAN DURAN HIT THE AIRWAVES THEY WERE REFRESHING, UNIQUE SOUNDING AND PURE GENIUS WHEN IT COMES TO AN ORIGINAL SOUND ALL THEIR OWN. THEY BROKE THE MOLD BY BREAKING OUT OF THE COOKIE CUTTER SOUND, MOST BANDS HAVE IN COMPARISON TO ONE ANOTHER, AND MADE THEIR OWN STYLE OF SOPHISTCATION IN THEIR GOAL TO STAND OUT MILES ABOVE THE REST. SO PLEASE RE-CONSIDER YOUR DECISION AND LET A WELL DESERVING AND SHAMEFULLY OVER LOOKED BAND INTO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. IT WOULD ONLY SERVE THE INSTITUTION WELL IN DOING THIS AND GIVING THE HONOR DURAN DURAN SO RICHLY DESERVES. IF THEY ARE NOT INDUCTED IT JUST SHOWS THE LACK OF FAIR AND GOOD JUDGEMENT ON THE PART OF ALL WHO ARE RESPOSIBLE FOR GIVING BANDS A SPOT IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. DURAN DURAN CAN ONLY BRING TO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME THE ELEGANCE, CLASS, UNIQUE STYLE AND MUSICAL GENIUS DURAN DURAN POSSESSES THAT CAN REACH SUCH A BROAD SPECTRUM OF PEOPLE INCLUDING THE GENERATIONS THAT WILL GROW BEYOND OURS, SO THEY MAY ALSO HAVE THE DISTINCT PLEASURE TO ENJOY SO MUCH THAT DURAN DURAN HAVE BROUGHT TO THE ENTIRE MUSIC INDUSTRY. THEY DESERVE THIS SO PLEASE LETS US ALL CONTINUE DURAN DURANS LEGACY BY GIVING THEM THE HONOR AND SUPPORT OF BEING IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. THANK YOU FOR YOU TIME IN READING THIS.

I fell in love with Duran Duran when I was 15 and they were my first Live concert experience. Now 30years later they are still making music, what am I saying they never stopped. They pioneered video and still some of their earliest work rivals what is put out now. I am proud to be a fan of this band. They have all survived the rush of fame and have surfaced the wiser and more talented for it.

28. #92 Dianne Davis, KS
Duran Duran are exciting, innovative and have never been afraid to push the envelope. They do things the way they want to do them and have never wavered from there vision. I hate to think what my life would be like without this amazing and influential group of musicians. Induct them NOW!! I have 'no doubt' you will have a line around the block of artists who would love to do the honors.

BIG THING Announcement---DDTTRH Council of 4

Hey fans--I am pleased to announcement a new and exciting change to DDTTRH, a major leadership change that I am sure will make this effort an amazing success for 2011. As Lead Effort Organizer, I have decided to create a DDTTRH Council of 4, with 3 Lead Council Members (who will act of leaders of this effort) for a period of 9 months. After the 9 months, these members can be re-elected or new ones can take their place.

All council members, including myself (the 4th and permanent member of the council) will keep their current titles, and will have the added title of 'Lead Council Member, DDTTRH Council of 4. With this title comes the opportunity to guide and direct this effort as leaders through council votes, and will be a means to support the other members of DDTTRH and their efforts. Having a council will also hopefully motivate fans like you to participate with DDTTRH so that you too could become a member of the DDTTRH Council of 4 and help guide this amazing effort.

Why this change in leadership? I realized the following in working with the good people at DDTTRH which I have had the honor to serve with in 2010:

**I cannot do this effort by myself. I need the support of good committed people, so that together we can make amazing things happen. Plus, this effort is growing in size and complexity and needs more leadership to really keep it going.

**I did not like the hierarchy--this effort should not be about me or any individual member of the group...this effort is for the fans and for Duran Duran. Making a council is good too, because things that happen will be debated within a group and will only make efforts that come out of that group better.

**I see this as a way to give those who are serving DDTTRH beyond expectaion an opportunity to express themselves and help guide DDTTRH's direction.

So, without further ado, I would like to announce the names of 3 new leaders and Lead Council Members of the new DDTTRH Council of 4, amazing people voted by DDTTRH to these positions....

Anitra Delorenzo, currently our Myspace Specialist and Publicist

Christian Helwig, serving as our Internet Liaison and ddttrh hub site specialist

Kandice Purpura, Our amazing Petition Duchess (shall we promote her to queen?)

Please join with me and congratulating these DDTTRH staff members and this exciting new opportunity for them.

Warmest Regards and Duran-fully yours,

Kirk Harrington
Lead Effort Organizer
Permanent Member, DDTTRH Council of 4
